Young talent has always been showcased at BYMT, the Minting Cup was another fantastic demonstration of the extraordinary talent of young people in Bromley. The Minting Cup is a new music competition for musicians up to the age of 14 in honour of a past local music shop owner Mr Harry Minting. Not only did the Minting Cup feature the musical flair of young people but it was put together and organised by the BYMT Youth Voice. The BYMT Youth Voice is a council of young musicians throughout BYMT whose aim is to ‘represent the views of all young musicians in Bromley Music Hub and to gather those views from students who are on the periphery of activities, encouraging them to become more involved.’ The Minting Cup is our first initiative that we have all worked incredibly hard on to achieve the best experience for all.
One thing that profoundly stood out to us was the impeccable standard of all the competitors, it was a joy to see all the performances, the standard of music was outstanding. The competition was incredibly close the adjudicator, the much loved, Mr Esaias had an extremely tough decision, the winner Grace Wu was more than deserving with two superb performances.
A brilliant day, topped of fantastically by the arrival of the Mayor to meet the winner and have some photos. Hopefully the first of many in honour of a wonderful man whose contribution to the music of Bromley will never be forgotten.
The event was beautifully photographed by Payley Photography and prints are available to purchase via their website
