BYMT joined with Inspire Works and Street Child United on 3rd October 2016 for Bang the Drum 2016. This amazing day brought together drummers of all ages and abilities from across the globe to successfully break the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Drumming Lesson.
Children from Farnborough and Southborough Lane Primaries joined 1,827 children from all over London at the Copper Box Area in London’s Queen Elizabeth Park for an uplifting and very noisy experience! 15,000 children in schools throughout the UK joined in via a live stream.
Bang the Drum 2016 has united drummers of all ages and abilities across the UK and the globe via live stream to support the rights, raise awareness and fundraise for an estimated 150 million street children worldwide. Bang the Drum 2016 is part of an arts programme associated with the Street Child Games in Brazil.
BYMT’s Head of Percussion, Chris Woodham, who lead a drum workshop on the day, said: “I am thrilled that children from Bromley, supported by BYMT, were able to help street children from around the world in such a high profile and exciting event.”
